New Circular regulating the price of SARS-CoV-2 testing service in Vietnam

On November 8, 2021, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam promulgated Circular 16/2021/TT-BYT stipulating the price of SARS-CoV testing service- 2.

According to the Circular, the maximum payment rate for SARS-CoV-2 testing services in cases within the payment scope of the Health Insurance Fund of Vietnam is as follows:

- Quick test for SARS-CoV-2 Ag test: the maximum payment is not more than 109,700 VND/test.

- Testing for SARS-CoV-2 by automatic or semi-automatic immune machine: the maximum payment is not more than 186,600 VND/test.

- Testing for SARS-CoV-2 by Realtime RT-PCR technique:

+ In the case of the application form: the maximum payment is not more than 518,400 VND/test.

+ In the case of sample pooling: the maximum payment rate does not exceed the price of sample pooling testing as specified in column 2, Appendix I promulgated together with Circular 16/2021/TT-BYT of Vietnam.

In addition, the price of SARS-CoV-2 testing service in case it is not within the scope of payment of the Health Insurance Fund of Vietnam is as follows:

- For state-owned medical examination and treatment establishments in provinces and cities and medical examination and treatment establishments affiliated to ministries and central agencies located in the locality: the determination of the price level shall be regulated by the competent authority of the locality but must not exceed the maximum price bracket for testing services.

- For medical examination and treatment facilities affiliated with the Ministry of Health of Vietnam and special class and class I hospitals: the price is the same as in the case of payment of health insurance.

Circular 16/2021/TT-BYT of Vietnam takes effect from November 10, 2021 to the end of December 31, 2022.
