Ministry of Health Requests Prohibition on Orientation Training for Medical Specialties

The Ministry of Health has just issued Official Dispatch 3928/BYT-K2DT regarding the non-implementation of specialist orientation training.

The Ministry of Health requests training institutions to not conduct specialized orientation training, because:

- Specialized orientation training is currently not regulated and lacks a common competency standard to ensure training quality;- There are no specific regulations on training institutions, training subjects, and the issuance of training certificates to ensure the healthcare workforce.

The Ministry of Health has been tasked with drafting a Decree on specialized training in the health sector and has submitted it to the Government of Vietnam for consideration and promulgation. The decree includes regulations on specialized training for the issuance of training certificates with a minimum study load of 15 credits, equivalent to at least 6 months of concentrated study.

Simultaneously, it sets requirements for training institutions, trainers, and organizations issuing certificates to ensure quality and meet current workforce demands.

For details, see Official Dispatch 3928/BYT-K2DT issued on July 9, 2019.
