Ministry of Health Guidelines on Proper Mask-Wearing to Prevent COVID-19

The Ministry of Health has just issued Official Dispatch 1519/BYT-MT providing guidance on wearing face masks for COVID-19 prevention for the public and community.

The Ministry of Health provides guidelines on how to wear and remove masks properly as follows:

How to wear a mask:

- Step 1: Wash your hands properly before wearing a mask;- Step 2: Identify the top and bottom of the mask. Identify the inside and outside based on the stitching or the darker side being on the outside;- Step 3: Wear and adjust the mask to cover your nose and mouth, ensuring there are no gaps between your face and the mask.

How to remove a mask:

- Step 1: When removing, only hold the ear loops;- Step 2: Place the mask in a sealed bag if available and/or dispose of it in a tightly covered trash bin for single-use masks;- Step 3: Wash your hands properly.

Note: Do not touch the outside of the mask during the entire time of wearing the mask. Proper hand washing is as regulated by the MOH, using soap or a hand sanitizer solution containing at least 60% alcohol.
