Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 606/BGDĐT-GDTrH on the implementation of the COVID-19 prevention and education program.

To ensure the safety of administrators, teachers, employees, and students at educational institutions while continuing to implement the plan for the second semester of the 2020–2021 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam proposes that the Departments of Education and Training focus on effectively implementing the following:

  • Based on the local situation of the COVID-19 epidemic after the Lunar New Year holiday, the Departments of Education and Training proactively report to the People's Committees of provinces and cities for advice on whether to send students to school or leave school to ensure absolute safety for teachers and students. Actively adjust the education plan for the second semester of the 2020–2021 school year in accordance with the guidelines in Vietnam's Official Dispatch 432/BGDDT-GDTrH dated January 29, 2021;
  • To organize online teaching in the event that students are absent from school, in accordance with the instructions in Vietnam's Official Dispatch 1061/BGDDT-GDTrH dated March 25, 2020 and relevant documents of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam;

  • To actively grasp the situation of students going to school after the Lunar New Year, especially students in ethnic minority areas, remote and isolated areas, and areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions; have solutions to support online teaching and learning; maintain student numbers so that students do not leave school because of difficult circumstances; develop a plan for fostering and tutoring students when they return to school.

Vietnam's Official Dispatch 606/BGDDT-GDTrH was issued on February 18, 2021.
