Methods of teaching National defense and security education at high school level in Vietnam

On November 24, 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued the Circular No. 46/2020/TT-BGDĐT promulgating the National Defense and Security Education Program at the high school level.

According to the Circular No. 46/2020/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, specific educational methods for high school national defense and security education are as follows:

- When teaching theoretical lessons, teachers need to use problem-solving methods, create problem situations, and help students take the initiative in applying common knowledge in subjects and available experience to participate in the formation of new knowledge, promote the spirit of inquisitiveness, independence and creativity in learning and research;

- When teaching practical lessons, teachers need to apply the presentation method combined with making model movements on weapons, equipment and visual aids, technology and aids in teaching, especially simulation technology, video films, etc. ensuring absolute safety for learners and teachers;

- Make the most of modern teaching facilities, digital technology applied in teaching and practical guidance;

- Organize national defense and security education contests and sports, creative experiential activities suitable to educational requirements and actual conditions of schools and localities, taking this as a particular teaching method of the subject.
