Mandatory Health Standards for Railway Employees

On May 4, 2018, the Minister of Health issued Circular 12/2018/TT-BYT stipulating health standards for railway employees directly serving train operations.

The individuals holding the titles of Train Operator, Assistant Train Operator must meet the health standards of drivers in the categories: A2, A3, A4, B2, C, D, E, FB2, FC, FD, FE as stipulated in Circular 24/2015/TTLB-BYT-BGTVT.

For the positions of Train Supervisor; Yardmaster; Station Dispatcher; Line Dispatcher, Station Dispatcher; Switchman; Locomotive and Car Assembler; Track, Bridge, Tunnel, Tunnel Maintenance Worker; Crossing Guard:

- Must meet Health Standard Level II or higher as stipulated during recruitment medical examination;- Must meet Health Standard Level III or higher as stipulated during periodic medical examination.

Health classification standards are stipulated in Decision 1613/BYT-QD dated August 15, 1997.
