Recently, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch 2146/BYT-BH stipulating the payment of medical examination and treatment costs covered by health insurance related to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Ministry of Health temporarily guides the payment of medical examination and treatment (MET) costs covered by Health Insurance (HI) for individuals with HI cards during centralized medical quarantine due to COVID-19 at MET facilities as follows:
- The state budget covers the following expenses:
- Costs for MET due to COVID-19, including: medical examination fees, bed fees, technical services, drugs, blood, transfusion fluids, etc., as per the Ministry of Health's guidelines;- The co-payment portion of MET costs for other diseases for individuals with HI cards;- MET costs beyond the coverage scope of the HI fund;- Costs for implementing medical quarantine.
- The HI fund pays for a portion of MET costs for other diseases within the coverage and benefit scope of HI, similar to the case of going for MET in the correct referral line, except for costs covered by the state budget.
