This is the noteworthy content mentioned in Decision 322/QD-BYT regarding the issuance of Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory infections caused by the novel Coronavirus strain (2019-nCoV).
According to Decision 322, individuals infected with 2019-nCoV exhibit a variety of clinical symptoms: from asymptomatic infection, resembling common influenza, to severe pathological manifestations such as severe pneumonia and respiratory failure. To be specific, the progression of symptoms for individuals infected with the coronavirus is as follows:
- Most patients exhibit mild fever, cough, fatigue, without pneumonia, and typically recover on their own after about a week;- Some cases may develop pneumonia, severe pneumonia, progressing to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), septic shock, acid-base imbalance, and multi-organ dysfunction leading to death. The average duration from the initial onset of symptoms to severe progression is usually around 7-8 days;- Fatalities occur more frequently in the elderly, immunocompromised individuals, and those with underlying chronic conditions.
Refer to the treatment guidelines in Decision 322/QD-BYT issued on February 06, 2020.
