On January 15, 2025, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Circular 01/2025/TT-BCT stipulating the tariff quotas on imports for salt and poultry eggs in Vietnam in 2025.
The import tariff quota for salt and poultry eggs in Vietnam in 2025 are as follows:
Group 1: Poultry eggs with a quantity of 72,104 dozens, including:
- Chicken eggs (Commodity Code: 0407.21.00 and 0407.90.10)
- Duck and goose eggs (Commodity Code: 0407.29.10 and 0407.90.20)
- Others (Commodity Code: 0407.29.90 and 0407.90.90)
Note: These are commercial eggs without embryos.
Group 2: Salt (including table salt and denatured salt) and pure sodium chloride, whether or not in aqueous solution or containing anti-caking or free-flowing agents; sea water with commodity code 2501; quantity 92,400 tons.
Regarding the entities allocated with import tariff quotas for salt and poultry eggs in 2025:
- The import tariff quota for salt is allocated to traders directly using it as raw material for the production of medicine, medical products, and as raw materials for chemical production.
- The import tariff quota for poultry eggs is allocated to traders with import demand.
In particular:
- The starting allocation time for import tariff quotas for salt used as raw material in the production of medicine and medical products in 2025 is from the time Circular 01/2025/TT-BCT comes into effect.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to determine the starting time for the allocation of import tariff quotas for salt used as raw material for chemical production and for poultry eggs in 2025.
- The method for allocating import tariff quotas for salt and poultry eggs in 2025 will be implemented according to the method prescribed in Article 9 Decree 69/2018/ND-CP detailing certain articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and Article 15 Circular 12/2018/TT-BCT detailing certain articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and Decree 69/2018/ND-CP detailing certain articles of the Law on Foreign Trade Management.
