Implementation plan of the Directive to promote the development of inland waterway transport from 2020 in Vietnam

The Ministry of Transport of Vietnam has issued the Decision No. 2249/QĐ-BGTVT promulgating the implementation plan of Directive No. 37/CT-TTg dated September 29, 2020 of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on promoting the development of inland waterway transport and coastal transportation by means of inland waterways.

Specific tasks under the implementation plan of Directive No. 37/CT-TTg on promoting the development of inland waterway transport and coastal transport by inland waterway means include:

- Complete the system of legal documents, mechanisms and policies; promote administrative reform; reduce and simplify regulations related to coastal inland waterway transport business by inland waterway vessels;

- Focus on improving the quality of formulation and implementation of transport sector master plans to ensure the synchronization and connection of transport infrastructure and transport services;

- Strengthen connectivity, rationally develop modes of transport, maximize multimodal transport and logistics services;

- Improve the efficiency of management and use of investment capital in the construction of inland waterway transport infrastructure;

- Promote the application of science and technology in management, exploitation and business of inland waterway transport and coastal transportation by inland waterway means;

- Improve the quality of training and develop human resources, focusing on reviewing, updating, adjusting and improving the content of training programs on water transport, logistics, ect.;

- etc.
