Implementation of testing for sending electronic data according to Standards and output data formats in Healthcare and Medical Examination in Vietnam

On May 13, 2024, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 2508/BYT-BH regarding urging the implementation of testing and sending electronic data in accordance with the standards and output data format attached to Decision 4750/QD-BYT of 2023.

Implementation of testing for sending electronic data according to Standards and output data formats in Healthcare and Medical Examination in Vietnam

To ensure the timeline for the trial implementation of electronic data submission according to Standards and output data format for the management, assessment, and official payment of medical examination and treatment costs starting from July 1, 2024, and to base the assessment and payment of medical treatment costs under health insurance as stipulated in Decision 4750/QD-BYT of 2023, the Ministry of Health requests:

- Heads of units are urgently directed to their subordinate agencies and units to research and comply with the directives of the Minister of Health of Vietnam as stated in Official Dispatch 907/BYT-BH dated March 1, 2024, on expediting the implementation of testing the submission and reception of health insurance medical data according to the Standards and the issued output data format attached with Decision 4750/QD-BYT of 2023.

- Directors of healthcare facilities nationwide are to take direct interest and closely direct the relevant departments and units to ensure the completion of the said tasks and bear full responsibility if the data cannot be submitted according to the output data standard issued attached with Decision 4750/QD-BYT of 2023 when the Social Insurance agency stops accepting data under the standard issued attached with Decision 4210/QD-BYT from July 1, 2024.

According to Decision 130/QD-BYT (amended in Decision 4750/QD-BYT), healthcare facilities and social insurance agencies in Vietnam are officially responsible for the submission and reception of electronic data in XML format of the data indicator tables as stipulated from July 1, 2024, to serve as a basis for the assessment and payment of health insurance medical examination and treatment costs.
