Implementation of Open Application Programming Interface in the banking sector in Vietnam from March 1, 2025

The open application programming interface in the banking sector (Open API) is a set of APIs provided by the Bank for third parties to connect directly, process data, and provide services to customers. Open API includes: Basic Open API and Other Open APIs.

In which, the catalog of Basic Open APIs is organized into the following groups:

- Open API for querying exchange rate and interest rate information of the Bank includes: API for retrieving interest rate information, API for retrieving exchange rate information;

- Open API for querying customer information includes: API for customer consent and acknowledgment, API for access token retrieval, API for refreshing access token, API for revoking access token, API for retrieving account list, API for retrieving account information, API for transaction history retrieval;

- Open APIs for initiating payments, loading funds into e-wallets, and withdrawing funds from e-wallets include:

(i) Open API for payment initiation includes: API for payment initiation, API for customer confirmation via Redirect Flow, API for access token retrieval via Redirect Flow. API for updating customer payment confirmation status via Decoupled Flow, API for payment confirmation, API for transaction status retrieval, API for customer payment confirmation status retrieval via Decoupled Flow;

(ii) Open API for loading funds into e-wallet includes: API for e-wallet loading, API for OTP confirmation, API for updating customer e-wallet loading confirmation status via Decoupled Flow, API for retrieving customer e-wallet loading confirmation status via Decoupled Flow, API for e-wallet loading confirmation, API for transaction status retrieval;

(iii) Open API for withdrawing funds from e-wallet.

The detailed specification of the Open API catalog mentioned above is specifically regulated in Appendix 01 issued together with Circular 64/2024/TT-NHNN.

Circular 64/2024/TT-NHNN is effective from March 1, 2025.
