Recently, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Directive 37/CT-TTg on promoting the development of inland waterway and coastal transport by inland waterway vehicles.

Ministries, central authorities, and local governments, according to their functions and assigned tasks, have specific plans to perform the following 7 key tasks:

Continue to focus on implementing urgent tasks and solutions to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in the field of inland waterway transport and coastal transport;

Attract investment to develop facilities for the construction, conversion, and repair of inland waterway vessels;
Promote the application of science and technology in the management and exploitation of inland waterway and coastal transport;
Continue to support the development of businesses engaged in inland waterway transport and coastal transport using inland waterway vehicles.
