Hanoi-Vietnam: 07 key tasks for development of inland waterway and coastal transport

Recently, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Directive 37/CT-TTg on promoting the development of inland waterway and coastal transport by inland waterway vehicles.

Ministries, central authorities, and local governments, according to their functions and assigned tasks, have specific plans to perform the following 7 key tasks:

  • Continue to focus on implementing urgent tasks and solutions to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in the field of inland waterway transport and coastal transport;
  • Research, review, and propose the completion of the system of legal documents and policies to create more favorable conditions and support for inland waterway transport;
  • Concentrate on improving the quality of the planning and implementation of national, regional, provincial planning, and technical and specialized planning related to inland waterway transport;
  • Manage and effectively use capital in the investment, construction, and maintenance of inland waterway infrastructure;
  • Attract investment to develop facilities for the construction, conversion, and repair of inland waterway vessels;
  • Promote the application of science and technology in the management and exploitation of inland waterway and coastal transport;
  • Continue to support the development of businesses engaged in inland waterway transport and coastal transport using inland waterway vehicles.
