On September 17, 2024, the Ministry of Health issued Decision 2733/QD-BYT guiding the pilot implementation of the e-health record to be integrated into the VNeID application, which includes the procedures for using the VNeID e-health record for healthcare services in Vietnam.
The use of the VNeID e-health record for healthcare services in Vietnam is as follows:
- Step 1: Register and create an account, authenticate: citizens need to install the VNeID application and authenticate with level 2 identity verification, integrating health insurance card information (if any). Log into the VNeID application and access the "e-health record" application, read the terms, and click "Agree to use the VNeID e-health record application." Fully supplement personal information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, and other basic medical information.
- Step 2: Citizens use the VNeID e-health record for healthcare services: citizens visiting for medical examinations and treatments are requested to present the VNeID health record instead of the paper book if they have the VNeID e-health record.
- Step 3: Medical examination and treatment facilities receive information in the VNeID e-health record when examining and treating: doctors and medical staff use the information in the patient's VNeID health record to extract administrative information, support diagnosis, and treatment decisions.
Note: the information on VNeID holds the same value as on paper: personal information; citizen identification number; health insurance card information; medical examination and treatment history; follow-up visit appointment slips; referral forms on the VNeID application hold the same value as on paper.
- Step 4: Record and interconnect medical examination and treatment results: summarized information about the medical examination and treatment process is recorded by doctors and medical staff on the software system of the medical examination and treatment facility and interconnected to the Health Insurance Assessment Data Reception Portal after completion to continue displaying on the VNeID e-health record for subsequent medical examinations and treatments.
- Step 5: Log out of the application: log out of the VNeID account before changing devices to protect personal and health information.
