Guidance on support for extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas in Vietnam

Recently, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam signed Decision 596/QD-TTg amending Decision 131/QD-TTg on approving the list of particularly disadvantaged communes in coastal sandbanks and islands (period 2016 - 2020) - provisionally referred to as particularly disadvantaged communes in Vietnam. To be specific:

- The extremely disadvantaged communes recognized to be upgraded to wards, commune-level towns, or meeting the new rural standards within the year are still eligible for investment support from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2016 - 2020 (according to Decision 1722/QD-TTg dated September 2, 2016) until the end of the year;

- From subsequent years, these communes are not included in the list of extremely disadvantaged communes (according to Decision 131) and are not eligible for investment support under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2016 - 2020.

For details, see Decision 596/QD-TTg effective from May 25, 2018.
