Guidance on Receiving Allowances upon Leaving the Vietnam Veterans Association

Recently, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 03/2020/TT-BLDTBXH providing guidelines on policies for Veterans as stipulated in Decree 157/2016/ND-CP.

Former combat veterans (CCB) who are receiving pensions, Social Insurance benefits, or monthly preferential benefits for people who contributed to the revolution, when ceasing their duties in the Veterans Association, are entitled to a severance allowance, including the following subjects:

- Former combat veterans elected, appointed, or recruited to participate in work at the Veterans Association agencies from the Central to the district level;- Former combat veterans who are Chairpersons of the Veterans Association at the commune level;- Former combat veterans who are Vice Chairpersons of the Veterans Association at the commune level.

The method of calculating the allowance is as follows:

- For CCBs who are elected, appointed, recruited, or CCBs who are Chairpersons of the Veterans Association at the commune level: For each year of participation in the Association's work, they are entitled to a one-time allowance equivalent to half a month's current salary;- For CCBs who are Vice Chairpersons of the Veterans Association at the commune level: For each year of participation in the Association's work, they are entitled to a severance allowance equivalent to half a month's current allowance.
