The Ministry of Finance has recently issued Official Dispatch 13306/BTC-CST providing guidance on some contents related to the maintenance fee for the national domain name “.vn”. Accordingly:

Customers who have paid the domain name maintenance fee for multiple years will have the next due date determined based on the whole number of years that the customer has paid since the previous fee payment.

- In case the fee was paid before January 1, 2017: Customers are entitled to additional usage years equivalent to the difference in amount between the old fee rate (according to Circular 189/2010/TT-BTC) and the new fee rate (according to Circular 208/2016/TT-BTC);- In case the fee is paid after January 1, 2017: Customers maintaining the domain name must pay the maintenance fee according to the fee rates stipulated in Circular 208/2016/TT-BTC.

Customers who have paid the maintenance fee according to the current usage level but then register to transfer Vietnam's internet address (IP) to a higher usage level must pay the difference between the two usage fee levels for the remaining months of the year for which the fee has been paid.
