According to the Official Dispatch, for cases of medical examination and inpatient treatment designated by health care facilities covered by health insurance to carry out COVID-19 testing:

- Those testing positive for COVID-19 and patients undergoing medical quarantine may have their medical costs covered by health insurance in Vietnam as follows:

  • The state budget of Vietnam shall cover medical care costs due to COVID-19, including: medical examination fees, bed fees, technical services, drugs, blood, intravenous fluids...
  • Except for the above expenses, Vietnam Health Insurance Fund shall pay the medical expenses for other diseases within the scope of benefit and the same level of health insurance benefits as in the case of going to the right medical facility.
  • Co-payments and expenses not covered by health insurance must be borne by the health insurance card holders themselves.

- In case the COVID-19 test is negative, the health insurance fund will pay medical expenses according to Vietnam's law on health insurance.

Note: the cost of medical care and health insurance will not be paid for cases already paid by other sources.
