This is a noteworthy content of the Regulation on receiving, resolving, and responding to voters' petitions forwarded by the National Assembly, which has just been approved by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam in Decision 33/2017/QD-TTg dated July 25, 2017.
According to the Regulations, when handling voters' petitions involving the protection of state secrets, Ministries, agencies, and localities should note the following:
- They may refuse to reply or, if replying, must follow the resolution process. When issuing written responses to voters, the documents must be managed according to confidentiality policies;- Do not update response information or resolution results on the Petition Resolution Management System;- Must report the resolution results of petitions according to confidentiality policies to the Office of the Government of Vietnam and relevant agencies.
For voters' petitions subject to conditionally accessible information as stipulated in Article 7 of the Law on Access to Information 2016 and specialized laws, Ministries, agencies, and localities should research, resolve, and respond appropriately.
Decision 33/2017/QD-TTg has been in effect since September 15, 2017.
