Goals by 2030: Males Age 18 Over 1.68m in Height, Females Over 1.57m in Height

This is one of the objectives of the Vietnam Population Strategy until 2030 under Decision 1679/QD-TTg issued on November 22, 2019.

To be specific, one of the seven objectives stated in Decision 1679/QD-TTg is that by 2030, the quality of population in Vietnam must be enhanced. In particular, the height of 18-year-old Vietnamese individuals should reach 168.5 cm for males and 157.5 cm for females.

Additionally, to enhance the quality of the population, this Decision has set out various goals to be achieved by 2030:

- The rate of young couples receiving counseling and health examinations before marriage should reach 90%;

- A reduction of 50% in the number of early marriages and a 60% reduction in consanguineous marriages;

- 70% of pregnant women should be screened for at least 4 of the most common congenital diseases;

- 90% of newborns should be screened for at least 5 of the most common congenital diseases;

- The average life expectancy should reach 75 years, with a minimum of 68 years of healthy living;

- The Human Development Index (HDI) should be among the top 4 in Southeast Asia.
