On December 30, 2022, the Minister of Health of Vietnam issued Circular 17/2022/TT-BYT stipulating the tasks of medical examination and treatment of mental diseases of medical examination and treatment establishments.
According to Vietnam's Circular 17/2022/TT-BYT, the regulations on medical examination and treatment of mental illness in the form of outpatient, daytime, and inpatient care include:
- Emergency;
- Examining and treating mental illnesses;
- Providing psychotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, music therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation, and other therapies within the scope of activities approved by the competent authority and in accordance with Vietnamese professional regulations;
- Researching and implementing new techniques and new methods of mental health examination and treatment according to regulations in Vietnam;
- Mental health counseling, prevention of mental disorders, career counseling, and social support for patients and their families;
- Examination and treatment of mental health in natural disasters, disasters, and epidemics;
- Organizing or participating in the examination and certification of subjects' mental health status in accordance with regulations;
- Supporting or participating in community mental health care for lower levels;
- Participating in other medical examination and treatment activities when being mobilized.
Vietnam's Circular 17/2022/TT-BYT takes effect on February 15, 2023.
