Forms of admission to schools for the gifted in Vietnam

On March 12, 2021, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating Regulations on organization and operation of gifted high schools for physical education, sports.

Vietnam's Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulates the forms of admission to schools for the gifted as follows:

- Knowledge: applicants shall be considered based on their school report books and certificates of completion of education programs applicable to their education levels.

+ Requirements for primary school applicants shall adhere to existing regulations;

+ Lower secondary school applicants must have a certificate of completion of primary school education program;

+ Upper secondary school applicants must have a lower secondary school diploma.

- Gifted sports: applicants shall take the following entrance examinations:

+ Examination of physique, components of fitness and basic athletic talents;

+ Examination of talent, potential and skills for the sports applicants are applying for.

- Admission eligibility in Vietnam:

+ Students aged from 06 to 15, having completed education programs applicable to their age groups or education levels as per regulations;

+ Having good health, physique and morality, average academic performance or higher and talents in sports, wishing to develop their talents in sports and contribute to the national sports achievements;

+ Having permission from their families and meeting required standards may take entrance exams to schools for the gifted for their gifted sports.

Vietnam's Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT takes effect from April 27, 2021.
