Recently, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch No. 4674/BYT-MT providing medical guidelines for COVID-19 prevention and control for foreign nationals entering Vietnam for short-term work (less than 14 days).

Foreign individuals entering Vietnam for short-term work will not be required to undergo the mandatory 14-day centralized quarantine. However, they must strictly and fully comply with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Individuals in contact with experts and guests entering Vietnam for diplomatic and official duty purposes must self-monitor their health. If they exhibit any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, they must report to their supervisory authorities and local health authorities.

Ministries, central authorities, and provincial/municipal People's Committees shall consider the demands of inviting experts and guests entering Vietnam for diplomatic and official duty purposes for short-term work and must take COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

After 14 days from the date of entry, if experts and guests entering Vietnam for diplomatic and official duty purposes wish to continue working in Vietnam and are negative for SARS-CoV-2, they are allowed to work normally without quarantine.

More details may be found in Official Dispatch 4674/BYT-MT issued on August 31, 2020.
