Recently, Vietnam Social Security issued Official Dispatch No. 1072/BHXH-CSYT regarding the assurance of benefits for those holding health insurance cards when medical examination and treatment facilities are quarantined or change their treatment duties for Covid-19.

Vietnam Social Security directs the Provincial Social Insurance to cooperate with the Department of Health to promptly guide the organization of initial medical examination and treatment (KCB) under Health Insurance (BHYT) and referral KCB under BHYT when there are KCB facilities on the premises that are under medical isolation or approved by the competent authorities to perform the tasks of receiving, screening, emergency, isolation, and treatment of cases suspected or infected with respiratory diseases caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus.

In cases where the aforementioned KCB facilities are central or provincial hospitals, individuals with BHYT cards registered for initial KCB at those facilities can choose KCB at equivalent or lower-level KCB facilities within the same province, and the BHYT fund will cover the costs as per the correct referral.
