Diseases and health conditions subject to telemedicine as of 2024 in Vietnam

On December 30, 2023, the Minister of Health issued Circular 30/2023/TT-BYT regulating list of diseases and health conditions subject to telemedicine in Vietnam.

Diseases and health conditions subject to telemedicine as of 2024 in Vietnam

List of diseases and health conditions subject to telemedicine as of January 1, 2024 is issued with Circular 30/2023/TT-BYT, including:

- Nutrition: Obesity;

- Otorhinolaryngology: Acute nasopharyngitis; Chronic nasopharyngitis;

- Odonto-Stomatology: Aphthous gingivitis/stomatitis; Geographic tongue; Gingivitis associated with tooth eruption;

- Musculoskeletal Department: Shoulder and neck pain; Cervicobrachial syndrome; Low back pain; Rheumatoid arthritis; Knee osteoarthritis; Degenerative spine; Osteoporosis (without bone fracture);

- Surgery: Postoperative care (both minor and major surgeries);

- Oncology: Post-treatment of cancer, palliative care;

- Cardiovascular: Hypertension; Varicose veins; Venous insufficiency; Chronic lower extremity peripheral artery disease;

- Endocrine: Diabetes mellitus; Lipid disorder; Hypothyroidism

- Nephrology – Urology: Chronic kidney failure (without hemodialysis);

- Respiratory medicine: Bronchial asthma; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD);

- Psychiatry; Mental disorders; Anxiety disorder, major depressive episode 

- Dermatology: Bacterial skin infections; Fungal/parasitic skin infection; Viral skin infections; Atopic dermatitis and skin infection disease

 

- Neurology: Parkinson’s disease; Alzheimer’s disease; Vascular dementia; Migraine; Tension headaches; Vestibular disorder

- Infectious diseases: HIV/AIDS infection; Dengue fever without warning signs; Influenza; COVID-19; Hepatitis B, C;

- Tuberculosis and pulmonary disease: Tuberculosis follow-up examination;

- Gastroenterology: Gastritis and duodenitis; Constipation; Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

- Ophthalmology: Conjunctivitis; Keratitis; Inherited retinal dystrophies 

- Rehabilitation: Physical therapy

According to the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023, telemedicine is a form of clinical service rendered by application of telecommunication equipment and information technology without direct contact between practitioners and patients.

More details can be found in Circular 30/2023/TT-BYT taking effect on January 1, 2024.
