This is a notable content mentioned in Directive 23/CT-TTg aiming to enhance the effectiveness of managing the supply and distribution of drugs by establishments; to prevent the situation of selling counterfeit drugs, substandard drugs, and to ensure transparency and rectify the situation of purchasing drugs not in accordance with regulations for the benefit of the people.
To ensure the implementation of the Directive, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam requires:
- The Ministry of Health to implement the connection of pharmaceutical supply facilities nationwide from September 2018, starting with wholesale pharmaceutical facilities, raw material suppliers for pharmaceutical production, pharmacies, and medicine cabinets at communal health stations. By 2019, efforts will be made to complete these connections for drugstores;- Regularly inspect and strictly handle violations, compile information, and carry out propaganda to improve management conditions, connecting pharmaceutical facilities.
In addition to the responsibilities of the Ministry of Health, the Prime Minister also requires the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct inspections concerning the connection and transaction processes of pharmaceutical supply facilities within their territories.
