Deadline for Submission of Artifacts for Proposal to Recognize National Treasures of the 12th Phase in 2023

Here is the content of Official Dispatch 1498/BVHTTDL-DSVH dated April 18, 2023, on strengthening the protection, preservation, and promotion of the value of national treasures and preparing dossiers for artifacts to be proposed for recognition as national treasures in the 12th round in 2023.

Deadline for Submitting Artifacts Requesting National Treasure Recognition Round 12, 2023

The process for compiling artifact dossiers to request recognition as national treasures in Round 12, 2023 is as follows:

Based on Circular 13/2010/TT-BVHTTDL to select and compile dossiers, send the artifact dossiers to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for appraisal and submission to the Prime Minister for review and recognition as national treasures.

The proposal document and artifact dossiers must be sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism before August 31, 2023.

Strengthening the Work of Protection, Preservation, and Promotion of National Treasure Values

* Regarding the protection of national treasures:

- Organize, complete, and promptly implement special protection plans for each national treasure, noting:

+ Take measures to prevent fire, explosion, theft, natural disasters, and other harmful risks to ensure absolute safety for national treasures.

+ For national treasures currently preserved at monuments or privately owned, regularly execute good intersectoral coordination programs and plans between cultural agencies, the police, and local authorities in protection work; clearly delineate the main responsible organizations and individuals.

- Timely and proactively report to the supervising agency and relevant agencies on any real-world developments that affect the absolute safety protection of national treasures.

* Regarding the preservation of national treasures:

- Prioritize funding for renovating, upgrading structures, technical infrastructure, and specialized equipment for storage and display areas of national treasures in museums and preservation locations at monuments, ensuring national treasures are kept under special preservation policies.

- Develop a specific preservation plan, ensuring scientific and legal integrity, for submission to the supervising agency for review and approval.

During the preservation process, strictly adhere to preservation principles, processes, and techniques, while coordinating with and being guided by scientists in relevant fields and preservation experts (based on the type, material, and condition of each national treasure).

* Regarding the promotion of national treasure values:

Develop and effectively implement unique programs with attractive content and diverse, accessible formats to publicize the value of national treasures to a wide domestic and international audience.

* Periodically report on the status of the work of protecting, preserving, and promoting the value of national treasures (with related images), sending it to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (via the Department of Cultural Heritage) before August 31 each year.
