 Criteria for the "People's Artisan" Title in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Field in Vietnam as of February 15, 2024

On December 25, 2023, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 93/2023/ND-CP on regulations on consideration for awarding the titles "People's Artisan" and "Artisan of Merit" in the field of intangible cultural heritage.

 Criteria for the "People's Artisan" Title in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Field in Vietnam as of February 15, 2024

Specifically, the "People's Artisan" title in the field of intangible cultural heritage is awarded to individuals who are Vietnamese and are currently involved in preserving, practicing, teaching, and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage in the following forms: spoken language, writing, folk literature, folk performing arts, social customs and beliefs, traditional festivals, folk knowledge, and traditional crafts, when meeting the following criteria:

- Loyalty to the homeland; good compliance with the Party's policies and the state's laws.

- Good moral character; being a role model in life; dedication and devotion to the craft; exemplarity in practice and protection of intangible cultural heritage; being recognized and admired by colleagues and the people.

- Exceptional talent or skills in a specific profession, representing the honored form of intangible cultural heritage; significant contributions recognized for the cause of protecting and promoting the value of the form of intangible cultural heritage held by the individual, demonstrated through understanding, knowledge, secrets, and practical skills related to the form of intangible cultural heritage; having spiritual or material products of historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, aesthetic, and technical value, contributing to the protection and enrichment of the values of intangible cultural heritage, and the development of the country's culture, economy, and society; having taught many individuals who have been or are currently involved in the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.

- Continuous or cumulative working experience of 20 years or more in relation to the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.

- Having been awarded the title of "Artisan of Merit" in the field of intangible cultural heritage.
