Criteria for evaluating the achievement of objectives and tasks in marine and island environmental pollution control in Vietnam

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam issued Circular 52/2024/TT-BTNMT on December 31, 2024, providing guidance on the index system and the evaluation of results of marine and island environmental pollution control activities.

Circulation 52/2024/TT-BTNMT is applicable to ministries, central governmental agencies, People's Committees of provinces and central-affiliated cities with seas in assessing the results of activities on marine and island environmental pollution control in Vietnam.

The set of indicators for evaluating the results of activities on marine and island environmental pollution control are structured into two groups:

- Evaluate the results of implementing goals and tasks on marine and island environmental pollution control;

- Evaluate public satisfaction with the quality of the marine and island environment.

Criteria for evaluating the achievement of objectives and tasks in marine and island environmental pollution control in Vietnam

The criteria for evaluating the results of implementing goals and tasks on marine and island environmental pollution control in Vietnam include:

- The capacity of state management in marine and island environmental pollution control: The effectiveness of state management agencies in disseminating, guiding, inspecting, and supervising the implementation of legal regulations on marine and island environmental pollution control by organizations and individuals; infrastructure serving marine and island environmental pollution control activities;

- Protection of marine and island environmental quality: Investigate, enumerate, and assess sources of waste from land, and from activities at sea and on the islands; manage hazardous waste and regular solid waste in coastal areas;

- Protection of marine and island ecosystems: Prevent, detect, address, and remedy pollution and degradation of marine and island ecosystems; improve and restore polluted and degraded marine and island ecosystems; protect and develop mangrove areas, planted forests, and coastal protection forests.

Circulation 52/2024/TT-BTNMT takes effect from February 14, 2025.
