On December 29, 2023, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 29/2023/TT-BGDDT detailing Law on Emulation and Commendation for the Education sector.
Specifically, the commemorative medal "For the Cause of Education" (hereinafter referred to as the Commemorative Medal) is a form of recognition awarded by the Minister of Education and Training to individuals within and outside the field of Education who meet one of the following criteria:
(1) Individuals within the field of Education:
- Teachers, education administrators at educational institutions and education management agencies (including officials, civil servants, professional staff, and specialized education management staff at ministries, government agencies, non-ministerial agencies, central organizations, and institutions) with a working experience in the field of Education of 20 years or more. In cases where individuals are sent for further education or fulfill military service obligations and subsequently continue their work in the field of Education, the period of education or military service shall be counted as working experience in the field of Education for the consideration of the Commemorative Medal. Disciplinary periods shall not be counted for the consideration of the Commemorative Medal.
- Individuals working for 05 years or more in economically and socially disadvantaged areas, according to the regulations of the Prime Minister, shall be eligible for early consideration of the Commemorative Medal, before the prescribed period of 05 years.
(2) Individuals outside the field of Education:
- Individuals who have held leadership or management positions for 05 years or more and have made significant contributions to the leadership, guidance, and development of the Education sector.
- Individuals who have made significant contributions to the formulation of policies, the organization of practical and effective activities for the development of the Education sector, or have contributed financially or materially to the development of the Education sector, as confirmed by the receiving unit.
- Individuals who are Vietnamese citizens residing abroad, Vietnamese nationals working for foreign organizations in Vietnam, and foreign individuals who have actively contributed to the construction and development of Vietnam's education and training sector, enhancing friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam's Education sector and other countries and international organizations.
