Covid-19 Pandemic: Facilitating and Expediting Customs Clearance for Imported Medical Equipment

Recently, the General Department of Customs issued Official Dispatch 1431/TCHQ-GSQL concerning the enhancement of COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.

To ensure disease prevention and control measures for customs officials during their duties and the inspection and control of import and export goods in the context of the epidemic, the General Department of Customs directs the Customs Departments of provinces and cities to continue implementing the following solutions:

- Conduct actual inspections of export shipments declared as non-medical masks (with HS code 63079090); compare with the TCVN8389-2010 medical mask standard to determine the actual goods;- Facilitate and promptly clear goods, machinery, medical equipment, preparations, sanitizing solutions, pharmaceuticals, and imported support tools serving the prevention, treatment of COVID-19;- Require officials, when directly interacting with customs declarants, goods, luggage, and means of transport, to wear masks and gloves according to the disease prevention standards recommended by the Ministry of Health;- ...
