Corona Pandemic: Schools Consider Temporary Suspension for Students If Necessary

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Official Dispatch No. 260/BGDDT-GDTC regarding guidelines for the prevention and control of acute respiratory infections caused by the novel strain of the coronavirus in schools.

Based on the actual situation of the epidemic, the Departments of Education and Training, universities, academies, colleges of pedagogy, and intermediate pedagogy schools must:

- Proactively cooperate with the local health sector in implementing measures to prevent and control the epidemic;- In necessary cases, consider and decide to temporarily allow students to take a break from school and have a plan for make-up classes to ensure the educational program;- Disseminate information to children, students, teachers, lecturers, and school staff about the epidemic and preventive measures, ways to self-monitor health, and reporting when showing suspicious symptoms of the disease;- Promote the wearing of masks when going to crowded places or when in contact with people showing symptoms of fever or cough (encourage wearing masks when going to school and participating in extracurricular activities).
