Consideration for Overseas Vietnamese Returning to the Country in Special Cases Only

The Office of the Government of Vietnam has just issued Notice 182/TB-VPCP on the Conclusion of Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the regular meeting of the standing members of the Government of Vietnam on the prevention and control of Covid-19.

after hearing the report from the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the opinions of the Deputy Prime Ministers and delegates attending the meeting, the Prime Minister has the following directives:

- The health forces, military, police, and local authorities at all levels must not be subjective or negligent in the work of epidemic prevention and control; they must ensure readiness to respond to all epidemic situations and resolutely prevent the epidemic from returning;- The Ministry of Health shall study and soon propose the announcement of the end of the epidemic and the strategy for COVID-19 prevention and control for a new, long-term phase, ensuring medical effectiveness and economic sustainability;- Continue to prevent the source of the epidemic from entering from outside; do not open international tourism yet;- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Vietnamese people abroad not to return home, to implement epidemic prevention and control measures of the host country, only consider returning home in special cases such as students under 18 years old, those going for medical treatment, tourism, family visits, expired business trips, etc.;- …
