Conditions to transfer temporarily imported motor vehicles of entities granted diplomatic immunity and privileges in Vietnam

Recently, the Prime Minister issued Decision 14/2021/QD-TTg amending and supplementing Decision 53/2013/QD-TTg on temporary import, re-export, destruction, transfer of motor vehicles and motorcycles of entities granted diplomatic immunity and privileges in Vietnam.

Use period of motor vehicles when transferring temporarily imported motor vehicles of entities granted diplomatic immunity and privileges in Vietnam according to Decision 14/2021/QD-TTg:

- The entity mentioned in Clause 1 Article 2 of Decision 53/2013/QĐ-Tg: Has used the vehicle for at least 24 months from the issuance date of the registration certificate, license plate;

- The entity mentioned in Clause 2 and Clause 3 Article 2 of Decision 53/2013/QĐ-Tg: Has used the vehicle for at least 12 months from the issuance date of the registration certificate, license plate; reaches the end of his/her term of office in Vietnam or is reassigned before the expiration of his/her term of office in Vietnam.

The entity mentioned in Clause 1, Clause 2 or Clause 3 of Article 2 of Decision 53 may transfer the vehicle to another entity enjoying diplomatic immunity and privileges in Vietnam or another entity in Vietnam if at the time of transfer the technical safety and environmental safety certificate of the vehicle is still unexpired or the vehicle has been certified as roadworthy by an vehicle registration authority.
