Recently, the Office of the Government of Vietnam issued Notice 281/TB-VPCP regarding environmental management in the import and use of scrap materials as production inputs.
Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc requests the following ministries: Natural Resources and Environment, Finance, Industry and Trade, Transport, and the People's Committees of the provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau (these are localities with seaports that have large quantities of stagnant waste) to perform the following tasks:
- Based on their assigned functions and duties to conduct reviews and draw lessons from allowing this situation to occur;- Strengthen coordination to strictly control the importation of waste into Vietnam in the coming time;- Ensure that Vietnam does not become a dumping ground, affecting the living environment and the reputation of Vietnam.
The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible before the Government of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam for the implementation of this task.
