Collection of charge for granting mining right in Vietnam from September 15, 2019

On July 31, 2019, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No. 67/2019/NĐ-CP prescribing charges for granting mining right and calculation methods thereof.

From September 15, 2019, the rate of charge for granting mining right (R) is a percentage (%) of the value of the crude ore in the permitted mining area.

R of each mineral group/type is prescribed in Appendix I enclosed with Decree No. 67/2019/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government. In particular:

- Sand, gravel, river bed, stream, alluvial ground; brick clay: R = 5%;

- Peat: R = 1%;

- Coal (except peat): R = 2%;

- Block stone for paving: R = 1%;

- White sand, refractory clay, kaolin, diatomite: R = 2%;

- Iron, manganese, titanium: R = 2%;

- Placer tin, tungsten, chromite: R = 2%.
