Code of Conduct for Judges: Complete the Work, Not Just the Hours

Recently, the National Council for Selection and Supervision of Judges issued Decision No. 87/QD-HDTC promulgating the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Judges.

The Code of Conduct includes the following noteworthy contents:

- Judges decide based on their own assessment of the circumstances of the case, evidence, and only adhere to the law, maintaining professional integrity to avoid any influence from any intervention;- Judges must be honest, clean, straightforward, and truthful, not taking advantage of their position for personal gain;- Judges must be impartial and objective, not making any statements or comments at the trial, hearing, before the public or media that affect the impartial and objective resolution of the case;- Judges always demonstrate patience and kindness towards defendants, litigants, and other participants in the proceedings;- Judges must be dedicated to their work and give their best with the spirit of “finishing the job, not finishing the hours.”

Decision 87/QD-HDTC took effect on July 04, 2018.
