Recently, the Minister of Finance issued Circular 96/2018/TT-BTC stipulating the management and use of initial healthcare funding for the elderly at their residence; congratulatory and longevity celebrations; credit incentives and commendations, and rewards for the elderly.

- Centenarians are honored and given gifts by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, including 5 meters of silk fabric and 700,000 VND;- Nonagenarians are honored and given gifts by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, centrally-affiliated city, including material gifts worth 150,000 VND and 500,000 VND.

The above expenditure levels are the minimum levels, and elderly people aged 70, 75, 80, 85, 95, and over 100 are entitled to policies based on the proposal of the Provincial People's Committee.

Additionally, support for medical examination and treatment expenses for the elderly is provided. In cases where the elderly's family arranges their own transportation, support is provided at a rate of 0.2 liters of gasoline per km, depending on the distance supported.

Circular 96/2018/TT-BTC takes effect from January 1, 2019.
