On March 29, 2023, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 319/QD-TTg approving the Scheme on anti-counterfeiting and consumer protection in e-commerce by 2025.
According to Decision 319/QD-TTg, the improvement of policies and laws on anti-counterfeiting and consumer protection in e-commerce activities is one of the overall goals of the Scheme in Vietnam.
Specifically, it is necessary to perfect the system of policies and laws in e-commerce activities to check and handle administrative violations, standards, measurement, product quality, goods, and goods labels in e-commerce activities;
Completing the system of national standards and national technical regulations on product and goods quality;
Promote the application of codes and barcodes and trace the origin of products and goods.
In addition, the Prime Minister of Vietnam assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to be responsible for coordinating with other ministries and agencies to implement:
- Developing legal documents and regulations on sanctioning administrative violations; amending and supplementing the sanctioning competence of the forces assigned to sanction administrative violations on counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights in the relevant decrees on sanctioning administrative violations in Vietnam;
- Strengthening sanctions and sanctioning measures for acts of trading in counterfeit goods, especially for items affecting consumers' health.
