The Ministry of Health recently issued Circular 27/2018/TT-BYT guiding the implementation of health insurance (HI) and health insurance-related medical examination and treatment for HIV/AIDS.
People living with HIV participating in health insurance will receive coverage from the Health Insurance Fund for the following expenses when using medical services related to HIV/AIDS:
- HIV antiretroviral drugs;- HIV tests during medical examination and treatment for pregnant women during pregnancy and childbirth according to professional requirements if not covered by other funding sources;- Techniques for termination of pregnancy in HIV-infected pregnant women;- Medical examination, HIV testing, HIV antiviral drugs, and other medical services related to HIV/AIDS for children born to HIV-infected mothers;- HIV testing according to professional requirements;- HIV testing, HIV antiviral treatment for those exposed to HIV, and those infected with HIV due to accidental risk (excluding occupational accidents already covered by state budget);- Treatment to prevent opportunistic infections.
According to regulations, people living with HIV with a health insurance card must register for medical examination and treatment under health insurance according to Circular 40/2015/TT-BYT.
