Basis for determining the location and area of sea dumping for the dredged material in Vietnam

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 23/2022/TT-BTNMT dated 26/12/2022 amending some articles of Circular 28/2019/TT-BTNMT on technical regulation of dredged material assessment and the basis for determining the location and area of sea dumping for the dredged material in Vietnamese waters.

According to Circular 23/2022/TT-BTNMT, the agency with the competence to issue a permit for sea dumping, relevant organizations and individuals in Vietnam shall determine the location and area of sea dumping for the dredged material on the following basis:

- The organization's or individual's need to use the sea area for dumping is stated in the application for a permit for sea dumping;

- The location and area of sea dumping for the dredged material in Vietnam according to the document of the People's Committee of the coastal province and shown in the decision approving the appraisal results of the environmental impact assessment report of the competent authority;

- The level of occupation of the seabed by the dredged material when dumping is calculated and determined in the project of sea dumping.

Circular 23/2022/TT-BTNMT takes effect as of February 14, 2023.
