Attire for Covid-19 Prevention and Control Must Be Sterilized and Meet Bioburden Standards

The Ministry of Health has just issued Decision 1616/QD-BYT on provisional guidelines for the techniques, classification, and selection of personal protective equipment for COVID-19 prevention and control.

Provisional guidelines issued along with this Decision stipulate the technical requirements for protective equipment including headgear, suits (either one-piece or separate) for Covid-19 prevention and control as follows:

- Design and size: According to the design of each height and weight frame;- Microbial cleanliness: For one-piece (or separate) headgear, suits + shoe covers, and accessories used in sterile areas (as per professional requirements), they must be sterilized, with a Bioburden index to be ≤ 30 cfu/g;- Barrier performance requirements: Must comply with the 04 levels specified in these Guidelines;- Face shield:- Material: Made of clear, flexible plastic. Can be cleaned or sterilized (either reusable or single-use);- Ensure visibility: Anti-fogging due to steam. Provide good visibility for the user;- Size: Completely covers both ears and the length of the face.- ...
