Recently, the Ministry of Finance issued Circular 79/2018/TT-BTC stipulating the rates, collection policies, and payment of appraisal fees for the issuance of licenses or approval documents for foreign organizations and individuals conducting scientific research in Vietnamese territorial waters.

The fee levels for the initial license assessment for foreign organizations and individuals conducting scientific research in the Vietnamese seas are regulated as follows:

- Scientific research activities conducted outside the internal waters, territorial seas of Vietnam and not using drilling methods on the seabed, the subsoil beneath the seabed: 4,000 VND per assessment;- Scientific research activities conducted within the internal waters, territorial seas of Vietnam and not using drilling methods on the seabed, the subsoil beneath the seabed: 5,300 VND per assessment;- Scientific research activities using drilling methods on the seabed, the subsoil beneath the seabed: 6,000 VND per assessment.

Additionally, the fee levels per assessment for cases of amendments, supplementation, extensions, and reissuance of permits are also specifically regulated in the above Circular.
