Approval of 25,442 extremely difficult villages and communes in ethnic minority areas

The Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam has recently signed and issued Decision No. 582/QD-TTg on the approval of the list of particularly difficult hamlets, Region III communes, Region II communes, and Region I communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period of 2016 - 2020.

There are 25,442 hamlets and communes in 51 provinces and centrally governed cities included in the list of extremely difficult hamlets and communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2016 - 2020. To be specific:

- 20,176 extremely difficult hamlets;- 1,935 communes in Area III;- 2,018 communes in Area II;- 1,313 communes in Area I.

Decision 582/QD-TTg comes into effect from April 28, 2017, repealing the previous Decisions by the Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, such as:

- Decision 447/QD-UBDT dated September 19, 2013;- Decision 601/QD-UBDT dated October 29, 2015;- Decision 73/QD-UBDT dated February 29, 2016.
