On March 09, 2017, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor signed and promulgated Decision 493/QD-TLD stipulating the authority and procedures for disciplinary action within labor union organizations.
Application for disciplinary action against violating trade union officials in Vietnam includes:
- Self-criticism report;
- Extracted résumé of the individual in violation;
- Minutes of the review meeting;
- Other related documents.
The consideration of disciplinary decisions or disciplinary recommendations must be conducted by secret ballot, following these steps:
- The trade union where the official in violation is active or works guides the individual in making a self-criticism report;
- The trade union conference reviews, comments, and clearly concludes about the content, nature, extent, impact, and causes of the violation;
- The violating official presents their opinions;
- Conduct the disciplinary vote;
- The authorized trade union organization signs the disciplinary decision.
More details can be found in Decision 493/QD-TLD, which takes effect from the date of signing.
