Amendments to the Regulations on overseas study admission in Vietnam

In this context, the procedures for handling overseas study admission in Clause 2, Article 16 of the Regulation on Overseas Study Enrollment, issued together with Circular 06/2016/TT-BGDDT (as amended and supplemented by Circular 18/2022/TT-BGDDT) are amended as follows:

- For candidates who are currently working at an agency, unit, or locality selected to study under state-funded scholarship programs, the Department of International Cooperation sends written notification of the acceptance results from the foreign educational institution, scholarship policies information to the candidate, their direct managing agency, and issues a decision to send the candidate overseas for the study upon receiving written consent from the direct managing agency for the candidate to study abroad;

- For candidates who are currently working at an agency, unit, or locality selected to study under scholarships funded by foreign entities, the Department of International Cooperation sends written notification of the admission results to the candidate and their direct managing agency to facilitate procedures for studying abroad;

- For candidates not affiliated with any agency, the Department of International Cooperation issues a decision to send them to study abroad.

Furthermore, replace the term “Ministry of Education and Training” with the term “Department of International Cooperation” in Form No. 01 and Form No. 02 of Appendix III attached with the Regulation.

Circular 20/2024/TT-BGDDT takes effect from January 14, 2025.
