Amendments to the regulations on fire fighting and prevention on buses in Vietnam

On July 15, 2022, the Minister of Transport of Vietnam issued Circular 17/2022/TT-BGTVT< /a> amending Circular 12/2020/TT-BGTVT on organization and management of transport activities by car and road transport support services.

According to the Circular, amendments to the regulations on fire fighting and prevention on bus service units in Vietnam are as follows:

- The vehicle must be equipped with an escape device.

- Ensure safety conditions for fire prevention and fighting for motor vehicles as prescribed in Decree 136/2020/ND-CP.

(Currently, Vietnam's Circular 12/2020/TT-BGTVT stipulates that on vehicles equipped with escape tools, fire extinguishers are still usable and have expired according to regulations).

Compared with the current regulations in Vietnam, the requirements for fire fighting and prevention on buses have some changes:

- Rules, prohibition signs, signboards, and instruction signs in accordance with regulations and standards on fire prevention and fighting.

- Fire fighting equipment must ensure quantity and quality in accordance with regulations and standards on fire prevention and fighting.

- To prescribe and assign fire prevention and fighting tasks and organize fire fighting readiness to meet on-site fire fighting requirements.
