Amendment to the Conditions for Health Insurance Payment When Using Technical Services

On December 29, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 50/2017/TT-BYT amending and supplementing the regulations related to payment of medical examination and treatment costs.

Circular 50 stipulates modifications to the conditions regarding payment of health insurance when undergoing medical examination and treatment using the following technical medical services:

- Joint endoscopy;- Joint injection (joint/tendon/tendon attachment point/fascia/paraspinal/epidural);- Rehabilitation technical services;- Swallowing exercise;- Different types of magnetic resonance imaging.

At the same time, certain technical medical services have also had their conditions, rates, and payment levels amended, specifically services such as:

- Emergency dialysis;- Tumor marker tests using radioimmunoassay or biochemical techniques;- CRP/hs-CRP quantification;- Pro-calcitonin quantification;- Phaco and femtosecond cataract surgery with or without IOL insertion/Phaco cataract surgery.
