Amendment to regulations on the duration for conducting research projects funded by the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development in Vietnam from February 15, 2025

The requirements regarding the implementation time and research outcomes of basic research projects sponsored by the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development in Vietnam have been amended by the Ministry of Science and Technology as per Circular 10/2024/TT-BKHCN as follows:

- Implementation time for projects

+ For exploratory and discovery projects, the implementation time is 36 months (not including any extension period);

+ For development projects, the implementation time is 48 or 60 months (not including any extension period).

- The research outcomes of exploratory and discovery projects must include at least 01 paper published in a reputable international journal listed in the most recent List issued by the Foundation before submission for publication.

The project leader of exploratory and discovery projects must be the principal author of at least 01 paper published in a reputable international journal as a result of the project.

- The research outcomes of development projects must include at least 02 papers published in a reputable international journal in the first quartile or second quartile group listed in the most recent List issued by the Foundation before submission for publication and must support the training of at least 01 doctoral candidate.

The project leader and key members of development projects must be the principal author of at least 01 paper published in a reputable international journal as a result of the project. A doctoral candidate of the development project must be the author of at least 01 paper published in a reputable international journal as a result of the project.

- Publications resulting from the projects must acknowledge the sponsorship of the Foundation according to the correct project code. In such cases where publications acknowledge sponsorship from multiple projects funded by the Foundation or co-sponsorship by the Foundation and another funding organization, detailed explanations and full evidence must be provided to ensure no duplicate use of Foundation funds or other State funds.
