Allowance for Long-Term Work in Extremely Disadvantaged Areas for Officials and Public Employees in Vietnam

On October 8, 2019, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 76/2019/ND-CP stipulating policies for officials and public employees, workers, and salary recipients in the armed forces working in extremely disadvantaged areas.

Officials and public employees outlined in Article 2 of this Decree are entitled to monthly remote area allowances for working in extremely disadvantaged areas in Vietnam, calculated based on the statutory pay rate and actual work time in such regions as follows:

- Level 0.5 applies to individuals with actual work time in extremely disadvantaged areas from 5 years to under 10 years;

- Level 0.7 applies to individuals with actual work time in extremely disadvantaged areas from 10 years to under 15 years;

- Level 1.0 applies to individuals with actual work time in extremely disadvantaged areas from 15 years or more.

More details can be found in: Decree No. 76/2019/ND-CP effective from December 1, 2019, which replaces Decree No. 116/2010/ND-CP.
